Hey guys!
Built for devices that push vapor production and flavor at higher wattage, this 70VG/30PG mix gives thick clouds, smooth throat feel and strong flavor cling. Higher VG favors cloud and wicking on sub-ohm coils, while 30% PG keeps flavor clarity and mixes well with nicotine freebase. (PG/VG guidance).
Target
- Batch size: 100 mL finished e-liquid
- Target VG/PG: 70/30 VG:PG (DTL friendly)
- Nicotine: 3 mg/mL freebase (typical for DTL sub-ohm vapers) — adjust to local law and personal tolerance
Ingredients (100 mL batch)
- VG (Vegetable Glycerin): 70.0 mL
- PG (Propylene Glycol): 29.0 mL
- Flavor concentrates (total 6%): 6.0 mL (see flavor notes below)
- Nicotine base (100 mg/mL freebase, PG or VG base) — 3.0 mL to reach 3 mg/mL final (use base strength you actually have; recalc with Steam-Engine).
- If your nicotine base has different mg/mL, use a mixing calculator (Steam-Engine) to get the correct volume.
Example flavor split (total 6 mL = 6%):
- 3.0 mL (3%) — Creamy Vanilla or Custard (base)
- 2.0 mL (2%) — Ripe Strawberry (primary note)
- 1.0 mL (1%) — Cooling/menthol or a sweetener modifier (optional)
Tools & PPE (must-do)
-
Accurate syringe or graduated pipettes (0.1 mL precision)
-
100 mL graduated bottle (and smaller bottles for concentrates if preferred)
-
Nitrile gloves, safety goggles, and well-ventilated workspace (nicotine is absorbed through skin). OSHA/NIOSH guidance: treat nicotine as a hazardous chemical and avoid skin contact.
Step-by-step mixing
- Calculate precisely with Steam-Engine or an equivalent calculator. Enter your nic base strength, desired final nic, VG/PG targets and flavor %s — confirm volumes.
- Put on gloves & goggles. Work on a protected surface.
- Add nicotine base to bottle first (reduces splash).
- Add PG (including PG-based flavors).
- Add VG.
- Cap and shake vigorously (2-3 minutes).
- Label bottle: recipe, date, nicotine mg/mL, batch size.
- Store in a cool, dark place to steep (see steeping below).
Steeping & finishing
- For simple fruit + cream mixes, 3–7 days of rest with daily gentle shaking often suffices; more complex custards may benefit from 1–2 weeks. Warm-bath (uncapped, short cycles) or ultrasonic methods speed blending but don’t replace time. (Community practice & guides).
Expected profile & device notes
- Clouds: thick, dense (VG 70) — wicks best on sub-ohm coils, good for ARMOUR ULTRA at 50–80 W (try 60–75 W to start).
- Flavor: fruity with creamy body; PG carries top notes so you still get clarity.
- Throat hit: mild-medium at 3 mg freebase. Increase nic only if needed, but higher freebase nic on DTL can be harsh.
