Learning for a New VAPER - Can vaping really replace cigarettes?

Hey fellow vapers and ex-smokers, I’ve been vaping for about 6 months now after smoking cigarettes for 5 years and I have to say - this thing actually works. At first I was sceptical. How could a flavoured vapour replace the real thing? But after giving it a fair go, I’m convinced: vaping can absolutely replace cigarettes. Here’s why.

  1. Nicotine without the burn The whole point of smoking (at least for me) was the nicotine hit. With vaping I still get that - without the tar, carbon monoxide and 7,000 other chemicals in cigarettes. I started with a 12mg juice and it killed the cravings just like a Marlboro. Now I’m down to 6mg and I don’t even miss the stink sticks.

  2. No more “smoker’s guilt” Do you know that feeling when you light up and immediately think “I’m going to kill myself”? Vaping doesn’t give you that. Studies (like the one from Public Health England) say that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking. Sure, it’s not risk-free, but compared to inhaling burnt tobacco? No contest.

  3. Flavours that don’t suck Cigarettes taste like… well, an ashtray. Vaping? I can switch between mango, vanilla custard or even something that tastes like cereal. It’s fun, and it keeps me from getting bored - which was a big reason why I used to relapse.

  4. I can actually breathe again Within weeks of switching, my smoker’s cough disappeared. My morning lung butter sessions? Gone. I can walk up the stairs without wheezing. That alone makes vaping worthwhile.

  5. My clothes, my car, my breath - everything used to stink. Now? I smell like the juice I’m using (currently obsessed with lemon tart). My non-smoking friends no longer flinch when I walk into a room.

But here’s the rub… vaping isn’t magic. You have to want to quit smoking. If you treat it like a cigarette substitute and stick to it, it will work. If you do it half-heartedly and go for “just a puff”, you’re likely to relapse.

Final verdict?
For me, vaping has replaced cigarettes 100%. I don’t crave them, I feel better and I save money (okay, maybe not with my growing mod collection… but still).

Any thoughts? Has anyone else successfully made the switch? Or still on the fence?

Hey Fam, first of all congratulations on quitting cigarettes. Six months is solid, and I’m glad vaping is working for you. But let me give you the perspective of a guy who smoked for 30 bloody years before switching to vaping. Yes, it’s better. No, it’s not the same. And that’s OK.

Vaping is the best alternative we have, but make no mistake - it’s not smoking. And that’s the point. It’s healthier, but it’s its own thing. It took me a while to accept that. And now? I don’t miss cigarettes. But I’m not pretending that vaping is the same. It’s just… better.

Any other old-timers here? How long did it take you to let go completely?

Good to you, bro! I also quit smoking since I started vaping 1 year ago. The smell of cigarettes is even a little hard to take now.
