Newbies Must Read! 4th Guide: Choose the Right E-Liquid, Double Your XROS 5 Experience

Hello all new friends, this is Bob, product manager at VAPORESSO~ Our newbie teaching series has reached the fourth episode! In the previous issues, we talked about device operation and maintenance, and today we’re going to discuss the most crucial thing - how to choose the right e-liquid for yourself. Choosing the right e-liquid not only upgrades the taste but also allows your XROS 5 to perform at its best. Hurry up and take notes!

Understanding E-Liquid Basics: PG, VG, and Nicotine

First, understand two core parameters: PG and VG. PG (propylene glycol) is responsible for restoring the flavor of the e-liquid, bringing a slight throat hit, and has good fluidity; VG (vegetable glycerin) is the “main force” for producing smoke, with a smoother and more viscous taste. The question newbies often ask, “Why is others’ smoke bigger than mine?” is mostly because the VG ratio is not chosen correctly~

Then there’s nicotine content. Newbies are advised to start with 3mg-6mg. If long-term smokers want to relieve their cravings, they can try 9mg-12mg, but don’t be greedy for high levels to avoid irritating the throat. Remember: the intensity of the throat hit is positively related to the nicotine content, and has little to do with the amount of smoke!

XROS 5 Pod Resistances: Which One Suits You?

Here’s the key point! The pod resistances of XROS 5 range from 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω, and different resistances are suitable for very different e-liquids. Let’s talk about them one by one:

0.4Ω: The “Big Smoke Champion”

Suitable for players pursuing rich taste and big smoke. It is recommended to use e-liquid with VG accounting for more than 70% (such as 30PG/70VG), and choose nicotine below 3mg. Strong flavors like fruit and sweet flavors go well with it, and smoking is super satisfying~

0.6Ω/0.7Ω: The Balanced All-Rounder

A balanced option, taking into account both taste and smoke volume. It is suitable for e-liquid with 50PG/50VG or 60PG/40VG, and 3mg-6mg nicotine is appropriate. Whether it’s tobacco flavor or mint flavor, this resistance can handle it, so newbies can choose it without hesitation.

0.8Ω/1.0Ω: The Mouth-to-Lung Favorite

The first choice for mouth-to-lung vapers, with moderate smoke volume and a clearer throat hit. It is recommended to use e-liquid with PG accounting for more than 50% (such as 60PG/40VG), and about 6mg nicotine is very comfortable. It is suitable for friends who like mellow flavors such as tobacco and nuts, with excellent reducibility.

1.2Ω: Ultra-Soft for New Switchers

Ultra-soft mouth-to-lung experience, with small smoke volume but delicate taste, suitable for newbies who just switched from traditional cigarettes. Pair with high PG e-liquid with 70PG/30VG, 6mg-12mg nicotine relieves cravings quickly. Mint and cool-flavored e-liquids have a more prominent cool feeling at this resistance, which is perfect for summer!

Quick Summary: E-Liquid Matching Tips

To summarize the tips: The lower the resistance, choose e-liquid with high VG and low nicotine; the higher the resistance, choose e-liquid with high PG and slightly higher nicotine. For example, using a 1.2Ω pod with high VG e-liquid is easy to burn the coil and has no taste, which is a pit that many newbies have stepped on~

Final Reminder for Newbies

At the beginning, you can try several ratios and record your favorite taste. The multi-resistance pods of XROS 5 are designed to let you gradually find your preference. Don’t worry about wasting, the process of trial and error is also the fun of using e-cigarettes!

The next teaching will talk about “e-liquid preservation tips”. Friends who want to make the flavor of e-liquid last longer, remember to pay attention~ If you have any questions, leave a comment and Bob will answer them at any time!

Awesome advice Bob but if this is for new users I’d recommend an excellent simple pod device like a xcross and stick to 50pg - 50vg until they become accustomed to vaping. On a 1.2 ohm coil 0.8 or at a push 0.6ohm

here in the Uk most major brands only sell 50-50 e liquids or 70vg-30pg and 80-20 is for sub ohmers to heavy for new users.

I found just juice make 60pg-40vg for pods there’s not many who do the 60-40 and I’ve never seen any leading brand sell 70pg- 30vg only if they mixed their own and just learning to vape I can’t see them DIY juices.

these different ratios only confuse beginners learning to vape

The hardest part for new users is trying to find a flavour they like or the right amount of nic to keep them motivated into vaping.

Some people suggest tobacco but myself found tobacco on first try almost made me want to quit vaping as I’ve never found a tobacco liquid that tastes like a cigarette it’s more a funky caramel taste.

I’d recommend a light mint , coffee or something sweet for beginners to get them used to vaping without watering eyes or coughing up a lung on each draw.

Then they are no longer a beginner by that time they got the just of vaping they can try different ratios of e liquid and coils ect.

The xcross 5 is a brilliant device for beginners and for advanced vapers wanting simplicity

But if someone is vaping for first time I recommend the xcross due to its ease of use and auto draw like puffing on a cigarette however I tell them not to use the preinstalled pod for first time vaping as it’s preinstalled with the 0.6ohm which runs at 20-30 watt this can be harsh for first timers I tell them to use the 0.8 ohm that’s included as it runs at 12-16 watts which is great for first time users.

Fruit juices are the most acceptable choice for new starters.

Yep I agree regarding fruit as a starter.

another issue we face nowadays is the right amount of nic

It’s ok us showing old graphs or explaining the right amount to choose your nic level depending on the amount you smoke this does not work nowadays.

Unless using freebase or mix your own and as we know freebase is harsher on throat specifically for new vapers salt is the better choice and recommended. As Nic salts absorb quicker in bloodstream and not harsh on throat.

Here in the uk most 10 ml nic salt juices are 5mg 10mg and 20mg

So for new vapers I say try 10mg to start ( try the middle solve the riddle )

If they find 10mg is either not enough they still have cravings or vape too much increase to 20mg if on other hand if 10mg is too much they feel sick nausea ect drop to 5mg
