Hey everyone , I’ve been vaping for around four years now after smoking for over a decade, and I’m still trying to perfect my setup. Lately, I’ve been wondering if my nicotine level is too high. I’m currently using 12mg, but I’ve noticed I’m getting a bit of a throat hit that I’m not super into anymore. When I was first transitioning from smoking, I needed that stronger hit, but now it feels like I want something smoother.
I’m thinking of dropping down to 6mg but don’t want to lose that satisfying feeling I get from my vape. Has anyone here made the switch to a lower nicotine level after vaping for a while? How was the transition? Did it change your overall experience? I’d love some advice on how to adjust without feeling like I’m missing out on the full vape experience.
Been there. The throat hit does get a bit much after a while. What worked for me was 6mg and slightly bumping up the wattage. Took about a week to adjust, but now I prefer it.
When I first quit smoking (after 30+ years) I was doing salt nic and 50mg but a pretty low wattage, 12-15. Then I found I liked the taste of freebase nic much better so I jumped ship. Another person posted 6mg and that’s what I use as well. What’s funny is I tried 12mg a couple times and it gave me this weird head rush that was decidedly unpleasant. I have also gone up on my wattage as well. I’m at 55 watts today. I find if I go any higher it dramatically shortens the life of my coils. Now I change the coil once a week at the first sign of that burnt taste. Peace!
I’ve been thinking about switching to a lower wattage too since I want to avoid that burnt taste and extend coil life. Changing coils once a week sounds like a smart routine! I appreciate the tips; it makes me feel more confident about trying out the 6mg.
It’s cool to hear that 6mg works well for you. I’ve been curious about salt nic too—30mg sounds like it gives a nice kick! Do you find the throat hit different between the two?
