Flavour 101 | How to Tell If an E-Liquid is Right for You

Hey flavour chasers! :waving_hand:
Flavour Master here with a fresh entry in our Flavour 101 series. Last time, we explored how to pair e-liquids with your device to get the best performance. But this week, let’s tackle something even more personal:

:thought_balloon: How do you know if an e-liquid actually suits your taste, your setup, and your daily routine?

With thousands of flavours on the market — from fizzy mango lychee to toasted pistachio custard — it’s easy to get overwhelmed. So here’s a breakdown to help you figure out if a juice is a one-hit wonder or your next ADV (all-day vape).

:white_check_mark: 1. Flavour Category Compatibility

Not every flavour is for every vaper. Here’s a quick checklist to help:

Flavour Type If You Like… You Might Hate…
Fruity Crisp, clean, refreshing puffs Artificial, overly sweet syrupy notes
Dessert Thick, warm, indulgent flavours Coil gunk, flavour fatigue
Menthol/Mint Cool throat hit, palate cleanser Harshness or overpowering icy notes
Beverage Familiar, nostalgic (coffee, cola, tea) Some can taste “flat” or overly complex
Tobacco Realistic, earthy undertones Not for fruit/dessert fans

:magnifying_glass_tilted_right: Pro Tip: If you don’t enjoy eating/drinking it, you likely won’t enjoy vaping it.

2. Check the PG/VG Balance

A juice can taste great — but not in your setup. For example:

  • 50/50 blends shine in pod systems with tight draws (great flavour clarity).
  • 70/30 VG-heavy juices need more power and airflow to perform properly.

If your juice feels too harsh, tastes muted, or burns quickly — it might not be your fault. It’s about matching the blend to your device.

3. Consider the Long Game: Can You Vape It All Day?

A good e-liquid isn’t just about first impression — it’s about how it holds up over time.

Ask yourself:

  • Does the flavour stay consistent, or does it fade after 20 puffs?
  • Does it ghost your coil or mix badly with your previous juice?
  • Can you vape it morning to night without getting bored?

:light_bulb: If you can’t answer yes to at least two of these… it’s probably not your next ADV.

4. Your Nose Knows: Trust the Sniff Test

Before you even fill your tank, crack the bottle and give it a smell.
If something smells overly chemical, sour, or just “off”, trust your instincts. It usually tastes how it smells.

Interestingly, chocolate flavor belongs to neither the candy category nor the coffee category.
