Vape Leaks 101: Why It Happens & How to Fix It

Vapers~ Let’s tackle one of the most common (and annoying) issues – leaking. Whether you use pods, tanks, or disposables, here’s a quick guide to understanding, preventing, and fixing leaks.

Why Do Leaks Happen?

  1. Worn-out seals or O-rings – Over time, rubber parts degrade.

  2. Overfilling or underfilling – Too much or too little liquid can disrupt pressure balance.

  3. Sudden temperature changes – Heat thins e-liquid; cold thickens it, causing pressure shifts.

  4. Coil or pod issues – Old coils or poorly fitted pods may not seal properly.

  5. Device stored incorrectly – Laying it sideways or upside down can encourage leaks.

How to Prevent Leaks
:white_check_mark: Store your device upright – Especially in warm weather.
:white_check_mark: Don’t overfill – Leave a small air bubble at the top of your pod/tank.
:white_check_mark: Check seals regularly – Replace worn O-rings or pods.
:white_check_mark: Avoid extreme temperatures – Don’t leave your vape in a hot car or freezing cold.
:white_check_mark: Prime coils properly – But avoid over-saturating the cotton.

How to Handle a Leak

  1. Stay calm – Gently disassemble your device over a paper towel.

  2. Clean thoroughly – Wipe down all parts, especially the connection points.

  3. Check components – Ensure everything is tightly sealed and properly fitted.

  4. Test before using – Reassemble, take a few test puffs, and check for residual leaking.

If leaks persist, consider replacing the coil, pod, or tank.

Quick Tip for Pod Users
Some pod systems are more prone to leaks due to design – choosing thicker e-liquids (higher VG) or switching brands can sometimes help.

Leaks are frustrating, but they’re often easy to fix with a little care and attention!
