Leaking Pods? How To Fix Them

Hey guys! If you are using a pod system, at some point or another you are bound to experience a gurgling or leaking pod.

I wanted to share my own tips and tricks for how to prevent them and how to fix them from my own experience. If there is something I didn’t mention, I would love to hear how you fix your own pods!

Preventative measures:

  1. Avoid leaving your pods in the sun or a hot car. I experienced this a couple weeks ago when I came back from vacation and left my pod system in the car. As the liquid expands, it’s going to cause some leaking issues. Not fun!
  2. Take your pod out of the battery when traveling through different elevations. Whenever I travel on a plane, I try to take the pod out of the battery. If it does end up leaking, it’s a lot easier to clean the pod than to clean inside the battery!
  3. Avoid filling the pod too high of a level and avoid touching the coil or cotton when filling the pod up with the nozzle of your e-liquid bottle. Also, be careful not to damage the plug or bend it back too far if it’s a side fill pod. Damaging the cotton can cause leaks as well.
  4. Make sure the fill port is fully closed, mouth piece is completely on tight, coil is inserted correctly and flush.
  5. Try not to rapidly hit the pod in quick succession especially if using a 50/50 e-liquid in a pod with a sub-ohm coil. Chain vaping can cause the e-liquid to get too hot causing a leak.

If you’re pod is already leaking, try some of these tips:

  1. Flicking. Sometimes just a few strong flicks will clear out the e-liquid droplets stuck inside the middle chimney of the pod. It can get rid of the air bubbles as well. Clean with a tightly wound paper towel as well to clean out excess moisture in the middle chimney.
  2. If it’s already leaking quite a lot, try lightly blowing into the mouthpiece of the pod. Just make sure you have a tissue or something to catch the e-liquid. Clearing out that excess e-liquid manually is needed sometimes.
  3. Take out the pod and make sure to clean it and inside the battery to make sure there is no e-liquid messing up the connection.

Those are just my tips that I use to fix and prevent leaks. If you know of any other tips, definitely drop a comment and let me know!

Most common issue with xcross pods that leak although not often is due to mouthpiece not fitted correctly or it has a hairline crack this reduces the vacuum inside the pod resulting in juice seeping out

Before you throw away a dead pod keep the mouth piece as a spare in the event one cracks so you have a replacement.

great post nice tips :+1:

That’s definitely happened to me before in which I didn’t press the mouthpiece all the way down after refilling. Always leaks if I forget to do that lol
