Understanding Coil Resistance: A Quick Guide for Vapers

Hey everyone! Let’s talk about something that affects every vaper but isn’t always well understood: coil resistance . Whether you’re new to vaping or have been at it for years, knowing the basics can really improve your experience.

What is Coil Resistance?
Measured in ohms (Ω), resistance determines how much electrical current flows through your coil. Lower resistance (sub-ohm, below 1.0Ω) allows more current, producing warmer vapor and bigger clouds. Higher resistance (above 1.0Ω) uses less power, resulting in cooler vapor and a tighter draw.

Why Does It Matter?

  • Lower Resistance (0.15Ω - 0.8Ω) : Ideal for Direct-to-Lung (DL) vaping. Works best with high-VG e-liquids and higher wattages.
  • Higher Resistance (1.0Ω - 1.8Ω) : Suited for Mouth-to-Lung (MTL) vaping. Pairs well with high-PG e-liquids and lower wattages.

Pro Tips:

  • Always check your device’s recommended resistance range.
  • Match your e-liquid (VG/PG ratio) and wattage to your coil for optimal flavor and coil longevity.
