Hello Not a vaping newbie…been vaping since 2012 with an old EGO pen style vape.
I recently got a couple of ITankT tanks for my Vaporesso Target 100 mods. They were great…until I let the juice get too low…burnt hit. Refilled them, nasty taste went away, but the hit is so hot I can’t tolerate it. Put in new GTi 0.4 ohm coils…added a few drops of juice, (Naked 100 lava Flow, 12mg, 65VG/35PG) Re-assembled the tank, refilled it with juice, and even at 30 ohms, the hit is so hot I can’t tolerate it.
While my favorite tank was the SKRR, those aren’t available any more, so I’m kind of stuck if I want to stay with Vaporesso, (been a Vaporesso only guy since 2019)
Can anyone offer any insights?
Thanks.

I don’t know why it is running hot as these coils are rated 50 to 60 watts best run at 53 to 55 watts only things I can think of is your e- liquid but your ratio should be fine check your settings I have never had this issue I expect it to be a little hot but that’s generally after a few puffs in succession.you did say it was ok until you ran it dry maybe a priming issue? Or your airflow is closed open airflow full and try it .
Airflow is wide open, Primed the new coil before I installed it. Even at 20 watts, it’s like trying to inhale a frickin campfire. Not sure what’s going on.. Can’t believe running a tank dry would cause the mod to go bad. I’ve been using the Target 100 mods for a couple of years, and the GTi coils for 3-4 years, IIRC.
What wattage do you generally vape at .?
I read you have mentioned they are hot at 20-30 watts these gti coils 0.4ohm are meant to be vaped at 50-60 watts best at 55 watts at 20-30 watts they are underperforming and could get hot trying to reach its desired temp at over 50 watts try putting your target mod at 55 watts to see if coil behaves better,
If you prefer to vape at 30 watts then you should switch coil to 0.5 which is suited for 30-45 watts for a cooler vape.
-
0.15Ω Mesh: 75W – 90W (Best for maximum clouds)
-
0.2Ω Mesh/Dual Mesh: 60W – 75W (Best for warm, dense vapor)
-
0.4Ω Mesh/Dual Mesh: 50W – 60W (Balanced flavour and clouds)
-
0.5Ω Mesh: 30W – 45W (Cooler, restricted direct lung)
Thanks. I normally vape at 50-60 watts. I tried 20 watts to see if at that level it wouldn’t be like inhaling burning gasoline. Nope. Still not usable. It sucks to have to trash a brand new $3.00 coil…
I’ve removed the battery, held the power button for 30 seconds to drain the capacitors, (not sure if that really does anything…but it was worth a try) I’ve tried this tank on a couple different mods and with different 21700 batteries….same thing.
