Does Anyone Else Get a Scratchy Throat from Nic Salts?

I’ve noticed something about nic salts and their impact on the throat hit. Does anyone else experience a stronger throat sensation with them? I initially switched to nic salts for a smoother experience but occasionally find them quite harsh on my throat.
My vaping gear hasn’t changed – it’s the same setup that’s been consistently reliable. So, I’m curious if the strength of the nicotine is what’s causing the discomfort. Perhaps my throat is simply more sensitive to the higher nicotine content in nic salts compared to other types of vape juices.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with nic salts leading to throat irritation? It could be the specific brand I’m using, or maybe it has to do with the nicotine levels rather than the PG/VG ratio.
If you’ve encountered this and have found ways to reduce the harshness, such as opting for e-liquids with lower nicotine content, I’d welcome your suggestions. Any advice on making vaping as smooth as I had hoped would be greatly appreciated.

Hey DavidX56! :wave:First off, huge thanks for bringing this up—your post is exactly the kind of thoughtful discussion we love in the #FlavorSquad! :raised_hands:

You’re spot-on to consider nicotine strength as a potential culprit! While nic salts are known for smoothness, higher concentrations (like 20mg+ or 50mg in some regions) can sometimes trigger throat sensitivity, even with the same setup. Quick hacks to try:
:one:
Check your nic strength
—switching to a lower concentration (e.g., 10-20mg) might dial down the harshness without sacrificing satisfaction.
:two:Brand matters! Some nic salts use different acids (benzoic vs. salicylic), which can affect throat feel. Experiment with brands that prioritize “ultra-smooth” blends.
:three:
PG/VG tweaks
: Even if your base ratio hasn’t changed, a slightly higher VG (e.g., 60%+) could cushion the throat hit.

Your coil could be bad thats why your throat hurts because if you dont keep the e-liquid half way you burn up the coil which can causes your throat to hurt due to bad coil in your pin.
