Hey fellow vapers! Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few devices, and I’ve learned that proper storage is the key to keeping them in top shape—even after months (or years!) of sitting idle. Here’s my tried-and-true method to preserve old vapes so they’re ready to perform whenever you need them:
Essential Storage Tips
Clean Before Storing – Always empty and wipe down the tank/pod to prevent old e-liquid from gunking up the coil or degrading seals. A quick rinse with warm water (for non-electronic parts) works wonders.
Remove Batteries – If it’s a mod with external batteries, take them out to avoid corrosion or leaks. For built-in battery devices, store them at ~50% charge to prolong battery health. Also, remember to stick an insulating sticker on the bottom of the pod to prevent the coil from burning dry.
Use Anti-Static Bags or Cases – Dust is a killer! Keep devices in sealed containers (like old vape boxes or Pelican cases) with silica gel packs to absorb moisture.
Store in a Cool, Dry Place – Heat and humidity can warp plastics and damage electronics. A dark drawer or closet beats a sunny windowsill.
Label & Organize – If you’ve got multiple devices, tag them with the last-used coil/wattage settings so you don’t have to guess later.
Pro Revival Tip
When bringing an old device back to life:
- Check for oxidized contacts (scrub with alcohol if needed).
- Prime coils extra long—cotton dries out over time!
