Future Proof Your Device

INNOVATION X – Redefining Vaping’s Future and Claim Exciting Prizes

With the new quest announced, it got me thinking - what should the future of vaping look like?

As a vape shop worker, seeing vaping trends come and go has been my life for the past 6 years. From simple starter kits like T20s, to Pulse V3, to pod systems. The main theme seems to remain the same - people are looking for devices that have a decent coil life span, stand out (or blend in with the crowd) and do what they’re meant to be doing. While having a racer on the screen looks cool for a minute when you get a new device, the novelty wears off quickly, specially if the device just isn’t performing the way the person wants it to perform.

While we still get the occasional person asking for an RDA, majority of people prefer the more simple devices like the XROS 5 mini.

When we’re talking about a new device, size does matter unfortunately, and our biggest sellers are small to medium sized pod systems like the Xros and Armour G. However, people don’t really like compromising battery life in favour of smaller devices too much. With pending UK tax laws around vape liquid, to be honest, I’m expecting big box mods like Armour S/Max to die out as people just won’t be able to afford liquids for them.

Now onto performance- as every vaper knows, ultimately, what sets the device apart from the others is the over-all performance of the device. How strong is the flavour, how long does the coil/battery last, and the most important - how often does it leak/spit.

While there is no escaping from the occasional leaking/spitting problems due to an old coil or hot weather, most common causes are down to the user using a pod/coil that is too powerful for how they are using it. So here’s my proposition for the newer devices:

I think the future of vaping should have coils that tailor themselves to usage. With new chips being invented for devices all the time, when do we finally get a chip that ‘collects vaping data’ and improves the device performance automatically to improve user experience? I’m not talking about adjustable airflow and variable wattage that is controlled by the user. I’m talking about a smart device, that while still having the options, is capable of automatically adjusting to the draw style of the person?

Take the Vaporesso’s Vibe for example- the coils are designed as 2in1, offering different power options depending on the mode used. While this is a fantastic new addition to the market, I’ve seen people still have leaking issues with the device due to their draw style, because the power still depends on the device. If only it had a chip in it that automatically adjusted the airflow/power by a fraction, when it detects a person using it slightly differently to how it should be used.
