Future of Open MTL Pods: Beyond “Same Old, Same Old” – What Vapers Really Want (Spoiler: It’s Not More Buttons)

Hey vapers, it’s BOB—your go-to Product Manager at VAPORESSO, here to rant (lovingly) about a topic that’s been bugging me: open pod systems for MTL vaping. Walk into any vape shop, and what do you see? A wall of pods that all look like they’re wearing the same “basic” outfit: same button layout, same “leakproof” claims, same “adjustable airflow” that’s… barely adjustable. :expressionless_face: It’s like the industry decided, “Let’s all copy the same checklist,” and now vapers are stuck thinking, “Is this really the best we can do?”

Spoiler: No. Because here’s the tea from our user surveys (we talked to 10,000+ MTL vapers—yes, I read all the rants :memo:): You don’t want “more features.” You want products that solve the hidden headaches messing up your daily vape. Today, I’m spilling the deets on what you actually crave (hint: it’s not a 5th power mode), and why VAPORESSO’s already cooking up solutions. Let’s dive in!

First: The Problem with “Me Too” MTL Pods

Let’s call a spade a spade: Most open MTL pods today are like fast-fashion knockoffs—they hit the “must-have” checklist (leakproof! Type-C! 10W-20W!) but forget the soul of vaping. You buy one, use it for a week, and think, “This works… but why isn’t it delighting me?”

Our user interviews summed it up best: “I just want a pod that doesn’t make me feel like I’m babysitting it.” :baby::droplet: Preach. So let’s stop pretending “adjustable airflow” is revolutionary. Let’s talk about what actually makes you go, “Wow, this gets me.”

User Need #1: “Stop Wasting My Juice (and My Sanity)” – Leakproof Tech That Actually Works

Raise your hand if you’ve pulled your pod out of your pocket to find e-liquid oozing like a sad milkshake. :hand_with_fingers_splayed::baby_bottle: (We see you, 90% of vapers.) “Leakproof” has become the industry’s favorite buzzword, but half the time, it’s just marketing fluff.

Here’s the truth: Vapers don’t care about “SSS Leakproof Tech 3.0” jargon—they care that their pod doesn’t turn their phone case into a sticky mess. Our R&D team spent 6 months testing leaks with vapers who “abuse” their pods (toss in bags! shake like a maraca! leave in hot cars! :automobile::sun:). The verdict? You want foolproof seals (no “twist the pod just right” nonsense) and wicking that doesn’t drown when you overfill. Future pods? Think “set it and forget it” leak resistance—no more babying your device.

User Need #2: “I Want My Juice to Taste Consistent – No More ‘Mystery Flavor Roulette’”

Ever had a pod that tasted amazing for 3 days, then suddenly turned into “burnt rubber with a hint of regret”? :fire::nauseated_face: (RIP, that $20 mango juice.) MTL vapers are flavor nerds—you care if your tobacco tastes like “grandpa’s pipe” or “ash tray,” and you hate when coils “die young.”

Your real demand? Coils that last, and taste the same from puff 1 to puff 500. Cotton vs. ceramic? That’s a side debate. What matters is: Can the coil handle my juice (whether it’s 50/50 VG/PG or 70/30) without getting gunked up? Can it heat evenly so I don’t get a “cold hit” followed by a “nuclear burn”? Future pods need smarter coils—maybe self-cleaning tech? Or coils that “learn” your juice and adjust heat? :crystal_ball: (Spoiler: We’re experimenting.)

User Need #3: “Stop Making Me Charge This Thing Every 5 Hours” – Battery Life That Keeps Up

Picture this: You’re at work, mid-morning, and your pod dies. You dig out the charger, sit by the outlet like a sad phone zombie… and miss your 10 AM vape break. :sob: Battery anxiety is real, and MTL vapers (who vape often but not constantly) need all-day battery without the bulk.

Current pods: 800mAh-1200mAh, which lasts… if you vape like a monk. You want 1500mAh+ that feels lightweight (no brick in your pocket :brick:). And when you do charge? “Fast charging” shouldn’t mean “45 minutes to 80%”—it should mean “I plug it in while I brush my teeth, and it’s good to go.” :stopwatch: (Hello, 15-minute quick-charge? Yes, please.)

User Need #4: “This Pod Should Feel Like Mine – Not a Generic Plastic Brick”

Here’s a hot take: MTL pods are accessories. You carry them in your pocket, on your desk, in your purse—so why do 90% look like “boring black rectangle #37”? :black_heart: You want to express yourself!

Vapers told us: “I’d pay extra for a pod that matches my style.” :rainbow: Think customizable skins (swap in pastels! wood grain! neon!), ergonomic designs that fit your hand (not just “one-size-fits-all”), and even little details—like a LED light that changes color when your battery’s low (no more squinting at tiny indicators :red_circle::blue_circle::green_circle:). Your pod shouldn’t just work—it should make you go, “Yeah, this looks like me.”

The Future: Pods That “Get” You – Not Just Check Boxes

So, what does the future of open MTL pods look like? It’s not about adding more buttons or flashy specs. It’s about anticipating your needs before you even know you have them.

At VAPORESSO, we’re ditching the “me too” checklist and building pods that solve your real headaches: leakproof that actually works, coils that taste consistent, batteries that keep up with your day, and designs that feel like yours. Because you deserve a pod that makes vaping easy, delightful, and uniquely you.

“Dear open pod makers: Why does every ‘next-gen’ pod still leak like it’s secretly training for a waterboarding competition? My pockets smell like a piña colada crime scene, my hands are sticky enough to catch flies, and every draw is either tighter than a submarine hatch or looser than my ex’s morals. I don’t want 9,000 coil options, Bluetooth, or mood lighting—I just want an MTL hit that’s consistent, doesn’t gurgle like a drowning walrus, and doesn’t turn my jeans into a juice towel. Is that too much to ask?”

My main gripe with any pod xcross-lux max armour G and non vaperesso brand pods as they all have same issue,

Due shape and design makes it difficult to properly clean examples would be pods with fixed coils can’t be cleaned out to change flavour,

Pods where you can change coils still difficult to properly clean as only the entry and exit points of warm soapy water are through the aperture where coil sits so can’t really scrub them out I use a small brush but takes around 2 days to properly dry they never really feel fresh it would be nice if bottom clipped off to enable the cleaning process better.

I feel like that would create another set of leaking problems, but the idea is good.. I’d never use soap to clean out a pod tho! Unless you huff on a burnt coil for a week, a simple rinse and dry with a bit of tissue should do the work…

I steep my tanks and pods in a small tub luke warm water a little drop of washing up liquid to get rid of smell of previous liquid then brush them out with a small pipe cleaning brush give good rinse with fresh clean water making sure no soap then left to dry on paper towels I’ve done this for years and never had issues.

You can strip a tank down to 4 pieces in order to clean and don’t get leaks why not create pods with screw off bottoms .

that would require a Go Z tank style from innokin, they just break at a first drop.. we sell loads of them every week cause they break so easily..
