Recently turned on my car’s A/C for the first time in a while and was hit with a strong, unpleasant old smoke odor. I admit, I’ve only occasionally smoked in the car during longer trips; it wasn’t a regular thing. Yet, it seems the scent has lingered, and now it’s pretty noticeable when the air is blowing.
I’m looking for any reliable methods to tackle this issue. Maybe someone here has dealt with the same problem? Not sure if I should be looking at cleaning services or there are DIY fixes that work.
I’m not entirely certain this is the place to ask—apologies if it isn’t. Any advice would be appreciated!

I actually went through the same thing with my car a while back, and those tricks really helped clear up the smell: Sprinkling some baking soda on the seats and carpets overnight works great for absorbing odors—just remember to vacuum it up later. You can also leave a bowl of white vinegar or coffee grounds in there for a day to help neutralize the smell. And don’t forget to check the cabin air filter since it might be holding onto some odors. If it’s still not fresh, a detailing service might be worth a shot.
